The more I read about action research the more I realize that it is an integral part of helping
students succeed. I also learned that
studying the data is an important part of the project. Everything that I listened to and read stated over and over that looking at the data is extremely important. Finding what exactly needs to change in order to help our particular students is going to come from our data. Looking at what will apply directly to our students' learning is going to keep us interested in continuing our research as well a keeping us more focused on the end result. Luckily in this day in age technology gives us access to all of our data
immediately so there is no excuse why shouldn't look to that data before any decisions have been made. Lastly, many school districts have
completed research projects on the exact or very similar inquiries that will be
beneficial to my students. There is no
reason for anyone to do research on a problem when somebody else has already
done the leg work.
I am getting excited about my action research. I am hoping that through technology I will be able to keep the parents up to date and keep my students on the right path. I have been researching ideas for communicating with parents online and have been given ideas from my classmates. The two I have been looking at are Edmodo and Remind101.
This year I'm going to be the data analyst so I won't have any students -- but if I did, I would definitely use look into Remind101. I think it's a great idea. I think it is a better idea than Edmodo because cell phones are much easier to access than a website. Using a messaging system is also less intrusive than actually calling someone on the phone. ReplyDeleteThis is great! Reminder101 is amazing! Our school uses an all call to contact everyone in the district and it never fails that the call comes at a terrible time. I would much rather receive a text! I look forward to reading as your ARP progresses!
ReplyDeleteThank your for your comments on my blog. If my goal was to let parents and students know what their daily assignments were for the day would you still use remind 101? My students always left their assignment sheet at school or would conviently lose it. I am trying to get assignments turned in on time. What do you think? Thanks!
